Steel Tech scientific committee begins to profile congress programme

The STEEL TECH, Congress & Expo, scientific committee met recently to set the strategic goals and lines of action of the congress side of the event. At this first meeting the group defined the profiles and characteristics of the companies and speakers to take part in the conference programme.

In this regard, the first day of the Congress will feature representatives from steel users in strategic sectors, such as the construction, automotive, railway and energy industries. The theme of the day will revolve around “Steel Solutions and Applications” in said sectors. The second day will focus on “Steel of the Future & Challenges”. This day’s talks will tackle the challenges faced by the dual digital and sustainable transition, including smartisation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and the circular economy (scrap recovery, recycling and management), among others.

At the end of each block, a round table will be held to discuss the main conclusions of the talks. Over the two days, more than 40 prominent national and international experts will address the major challenges and trends in innovation and technology in the iron and steel sector.

The STEEL TECH scientific committee is made up of representatives of companies, technology centres and associations, including ArcelorMittal, Aceros Inoxidables Olarra, Sidenor, Alfe Cutting, Acería de Álava (Tubacex Group), CEIT, Tecnalia, IDOM, Sarralle, SPRI and Unesid, along with representatives from the event organisers, Siderex and Bilbao Exhibition Centre.

The first STEEL TECH will be held over 19-21 October 2021 and aims to become Southern Europe’s leading international meeting point for the steel sector.
