International Steel Week: strategy meeting with leaders from the global steel sector
From 21 to 23 October, the steel industry has a strategic appointment at International Steel Week, a joint initiative of Steel Tech, Congress & Expo, and European Steel Forum, which will turn Bizkaia and the Basque Country into the international epicentre of the sector. Over three days, the event will address the main challenges faced by the sector with a cross-cutting and strategic approach, combining congresses, exhibitions, technical visits and networking.
International Steel Week is the result of an alliance between AIST, organiser of the European Steel Forum, and Steel Tech, promoted by Siderex and Bilbao Exhibition Centre, with the support of UNESID.
Based in the United States, AIST (the Association for Iron & Steel Technology) promotes the technological development of the iron and steel industry through training, research and connections between professionals in the sector. It also organises the European Steel Forum, a meeting that brings together experts from more than 30 countries and which this year will hold its most multinational edition.
In turn, Steel Tech, Congress & Expo has established itself as a leading event in southern Europe thanks to its technical focus and its commitment to innovation in the steel sector. It is organised by Siderex, the Steel Cluster Association, and Bilbao Exhibition Centre, with the collaboration of UNESID.
On the 21st, Steel Tech, Congress & Expo, and the European Steel Forum will share the programme for the day, to be held at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre with a proposal that combines congresses and exhibitions. The meeting will offer a cross-cutting and strategic approach, addressing the main challenges and opportunities for the sector on a global scale.
On 22 October, Steel Tech, Congress & Expo, will continue its conference format with a more technical programme that will address topics such as the situation regarding the European steel sector, decarbonisation: supplies and processes, as well as artificial intelligence as applied to the steel sector. The Steel Tech Awards gala, which recognises innovation and leadership in the sector, will take place that same evening, as part of the International Steel Forum.
On 23 October, International Steel Week will culminate with technical visits to key companies and infrastructure in the sector.
