SARRALLE Environment & Energy is very proud to announce the start-up of the Phase I (2022) and the new order for the Phase II of the Treatment and Recovery of Steel Mill Slag for Phoenix Services at Acerinox Palmones (Spain).

The Treatment and Recovery of Steel Mill Slag is still one of the most challenging operational processes. The stainless-steel slag contains chromium and iron and consequently, an efficient recovery of these valuable components has potential environmental and economical profit.

The current cutting-edge technology for the recovery of these metals is comprised of two processes:

  • Crushing Plant (CP): Phase I of the project finished in June 2022, is the process in which the slag is crushed and classified.
  • Metal Recovery Plant (MRP): Phase II of the project ordered in March 2023, is the process in which the fines metals are recovered, and an aggregate product is produced.

The turnkey project includes the design, engineering, automatization & control, mechanical equipment, manufacturing, civil works, commissioning and start-up of the Metal Recovery Plant and Acerinox Palmones (Spain) will count with the state-of-the-art equipment, operated by experts like Phoenix Services and ensuring SARRALLE is providing the best solution for the most efficient waste treatment plant. With this new plant, Acerinox will be able to treat 70T/h stainless steel slag.
